A well-known executive from a Premier League club is being investigated by the police for non-recent sex offences.

The man is still working in England’s top division while the case is investigated by London’s Metropolitan police.

In the United Kingdom, people have the right to privacy until the police see fit to charge them, which is why the man has not been named and comments have been disabled on this article.

Specialist officers from the RASSO unit – Rape and Serious Sexual Offences – have been placed in charge of the inquiry.

The investigation relates to the alleged sexual exploitation of under-age girls, one of whom was 15 at the time of the alleged offences. As part of that, the police are investigating a complaint relating to the alleged making and distribution of indecent photographs.

The alleged crimes, which took place at a number of locations in the south-east of England, go back a number of years and are not related to the man’s involvement in football.

“In November, police received a report relating to the alleged taking of indecent images and sexual exploitation,” read a statement from the Metropolitan police. “Initial enquiries are being carried out. No arrests have been made.”
