PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Democratic Socialists of America’s Pensacola chapter held their first-ever clothing swap on Saturday.

The event took place at the Pensacola Library on North Spring Street.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., people throughout the community traded their gently used clothes with others.

There were shoes, hats, tops, bottoms, belts, and even backpacks available for exchange.

The overall goal is to promote sustainable fashion and give everyone the opportunity for a new, fresh look.

“People have so many clothes, and they’re always buying clothes and getting rid of clothes, so they might as well make it a free thing and share with everybody,” Democratic Socialist of America member Ashley said.

“It’s nice not just to have clothes to be warm and cover yourself, but you want to look nice. You want to be proud of how you look and express yourself through your fashion.”

All leftover clothing that was dropped off and not traded will be donated to the Overflow Health Alliance.
