Like previous seasons, this upcoming instalment consists of 10 episodes and already boasts quite the star-studded cast, being led by the iconic trio that is Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez.
As well as a release date being confirmed, we also have our first look at the new season, showing the trio in the iconic three wise monkeys set-up, signalling ‘see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil’. Could this signal a little of what’s to come?
Of course, it wouldn’t be Only Murders in the Building if each season didn’t leave off on a chilling cliffhanger, and season 4 was no different.
After solving the mystery of Sazz’s murder, the trio were on a high as Oliver (Martin Short) and Loretta (Meryl Streep) got married and celebrated in the courtyard of the Arconia.
But that happiness was short-lived once doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca) was found dead in the fountain, leaving the door wide open for the kind of drama set to unfold in season 5.
The official synopsis for the fifth season reads: “After their beloved doorman, Lester, dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles, Oliver and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident.
“Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia.
“The trio discovers a deeper divide between their storied city they thought they knew and the new New York evolving around them — one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge.”

From the sounds of it, while the series will of course focus on the residents of the Arconia, it may have some deeper mob ties that, quite frankly, we can’t wait to see.
We do know that the cast of this season is no less starry than season 4, with the likes of Keegan-Michael Key, Christopher Waltz, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Jermaine Fowler, Bobby Cannavale, Téa Leoni, Christoph Waltz, Beanie Feldstein and Dianne Wiest all set to feature.
Returning stars include Michael Cyril Creighton, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind and Nathan Lane.
Last season saw Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria all appear as Charles, Oliver and Mabel’s Hollywood actor counterparts, but we can assume that it’s certainly the end for any kind of big-screen adaptation as they haven’t been confirmed to star in the fifth season.
