OnePlus has released a novel dual-purpose charging cable that has us wondering why such a thing hasn’t been part of our lives for years.
The OnePlus 2-in-1 SuperVooc Cable is available to buy direct from the OnePlus website for £34.99, with an early bird discount to £27.99. You’ll need to supply the brick yourself (it supports up to 80W), but the real interest lies in the cable itself.
As the name suggests, this charging cable can service a smartphone and a (OnePlus-branded) smartwatch simultaneously.
It’s a normal USB-C cable, but half way along it breaks out into a little white platform for hooking up your OnePlus Watch 2, OnePlus Watch 2R, or OnePlus Watch 3.
It’ll let you hook up a phone and a smartwatch at the same time, though obviously that 80W charging will be split (10W for the smartwatch, 67W for the phone).

Why haven’t we seen this before?
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a charger that handles multiple devices at once.
Apple famously ditched its 3-in-1 AirPower solution that incorporated wireless charging, and the likes of Belkin have come up with its own similar solutions over the years.
But this is the first time, that we can recall, that such a simple and elegant solution has presented itself – at least from an official manufacturer. The only downer is the proprietary nature of the smartwatch element, but that’s totally understandable.
Indeed, it just makes us wish that every smartwatch manufacturer offered a practical dual-charging solution like this. Taking two cables out with you is always such a drag.
