In summary
- OnePlus working on new 1.5K 165Hz display
- Being tested on mid-range phone
- Will then come to flagship
OnePlus is reportedly working on an advanced new display that could be coming to future phones, with a mystery mid-range handset potentially preceding the OnePlus 15.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus is working on a new kind of display with a 1.5K resolution and an elevated 165Hz refresh rate.
We’ve heard thus rumour concerning a potential 1.5K 165Hz screen for the OnePlus 15 before, but this post adds a few new wrinkles.
For one thing, we learn that the new display will have a significantly improved touch response rate to match that higher refresh rate.
But the most interesting thing here is the claim that the display is being “verified and tested in the mid-range line”, and that “If all goes well, the flagship line may also go to 165Hz.”

Count us confused
With the usual caveat that this post has been machine translated out of the way, this claim has us confused.
Does the poster mean that OnePlus is going to release the display on a mid-range model before it makes its way to a flagship phone? If so, it’s tricky to know which model it means. The OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 only just launched, and the OnePlus 15 is potentially only two month away from being announced in China.
Does this mean, then, that the display will be launched in OnePlus’s next mid-range model in 2026, and that the next flagship phone to follow the OnePlus 15 – the OnePlus 15T or even the OnePlus 16 – will be the beneficiary? That seems unlikely.
Our suggest would be that OnePlus is merely testing the phone out on mid-range hardware at this point. If this is to launch, it may only be a regional model that we won’t see here in the West.
