The People’s Liberation Army Navy’s next-generation amphibious assault flattop departed Friday from Shanghai, China, for its first sea trial. Sichuan (51), the first Type 076 of landing helicopter dock (LHD), set sail around 9 a.m. local time Friday from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard for a navigational test mission. According to Chinese state media, the trial is meant to verify the amphibious warship’s electrical systems function properly while underway.
