Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are tied in two battleground states, with Trump ahead in one three new polls released by Echelon Insights Thursday.
The polls show the candidates tied in Michigan and Wisconsin with Trump ahead in Pennsylvania. The three states are a part of the “blue wall,” a collection of industrial midwestern states that have traditionally been a part of Democratic victories but were key flips in Trump’s 2016 win.
The three states account for 44 electoral votes in the 2024 election.
Each poll took a sample of sample of 600 likely voters in the state from Oct. 27-30 with 80% of respondents sampled via text-to-web and 20% of respondents sampled through a landline phone call.
The race remains tight with five days left for the campaigns to sway voters into making a decision. Both Harris and Trump are scheduled to speak in Nevada, one of the seven states that could swing the election.

Trump leads Harris in Pennsylvania
Echelon found that Trump lead Harris by 6% in the head-to-head matchup they polled, and by 5% when third parties were included.
The poll found that 92% of respondents were at least very motivated to vote and that 32% of respondents had already voted.
Fifty-eight percent of respondents said that they disapproved of President Joe Biden’s tenure in office, while 49% disapproved of Trumps time in office.
The poll had a margin of error of ± 4.5%.
Harris and Trump tied in Michigan
The pollster found that Harris and Trump are tied in Michigan at 48% head-to-head and at 47% when third parties are included.
The survey found that 93% of respondents were at least very motivated to vote and that 49% of respondents had already voted.
A majority of respondents said that they disapproved of both Biden’s and Trump’s tenure in office with 56% disapproving of Biden’s and 50% disapproving of Trump’s.
The poll had a margin of error of ± 4.4%.
Harris and Trump tied in Wisconsin
The final poll Echelon released found that Harris and Trump are also tied in Wisconsin at 49% head-to-head and at 48% when third parties are included.
The survey found that 95% of respondents were at least very motivated to vote and that 44% of respondents had already voted.
Respondents in Wisconsin disapproved of both Biden’s and Trump’s time in office with 54% and 51% of those surveyed expressing their disapproval, respectively.
The poll had a margin of error of ± 4.5%.

Things to keep in mind about polling
The margin of error describes how accurately we can count on the survey results being representative of the entire population.
When a candidate’s lead is “inside” the margin of error, it is considered a “statistical tie,” according to Pew Research Center.
Pew has also found the majority of pollsters have changed their methods since the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, where Trump’s performance was significantly underestimated.
