New Haven fashion designer to debut new line at New York Fashion Week – NBC Connecticut

A local New Haven fashion designer will be showcasing his designs on one of the biggest stages in the fashion world, New York Fashion Week.

Jayden Pressey AKA Style Strizz is getting ready to make a mark in the fashion world as he and his team prepare to showcase his latest line, Heaven Sent, on Friday at The Melrose Ballroom in New York.

Strizz said the design is an extension of his original fashion line, God’s Timing.

“This entire branch of the brand is going to be more so on that angelic, kind of old school, what Jesus might’ve worn if he had some extra style,” Strizz said.

The young creator said he wanted to share the stage, and decided to include out-of-state designers and local Connecticut talent.

Friday’s fashion show will mark Strizz’s third selected show; he said there will be designers coming from California, Texas, Ohio, Minnesota and North Carolina.

“I think it’s empowering to bring people from, not only just New Haven but from around the country all together because we have a common interest in fashion,” Strizz said.

Over 80 models are set to participate, including model and coach Deja Salahuddin from Bridgeport.

“I’ve gone through multiple trainings to learn what I learned and now to be able to give that to someone else and help them achieve their dreams, that makes me the most excited about tomorrow’s show,” Salahuddin said.

Salahuddin said she’s been training the models to perfect their runway walk while giving them tips that can be used in any runway such as keeping your shoulders back, pushing your pelvis slightly forward and crossing your legs in front of one another while walking.

“I’m honestly just really grateful for the team, for the models, for the staff, everyone that’s involved in this process,” Salahuddin said.
