UPDATE: The Gulf Shores Police Department has confirmed the names of two people who died after a plane crashed into Bon Secour Bay over the weekend.
The victims were Dana Ruehle and Jon George.

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — The waters of Bon Secour Bay are calm again after a plane crash over the weekend.

A single-engine aircraft crashed during a trip back home to Gulf Shores on the night of Saturday, March 7, killing two people.
A Florida company is set to recover the plane from the bottom of Bon Secour Bay in about six to seven feet of water.
The bodies of the pilot and passenger were recovered Saturday night, and parts of the plane have also been recovered.
The 1982 Beechcraft A36 took off Saturday night on a return trip to Gulf Shores from Palm Coast, Florida. FlightAware tracking shows the plane dropped about 5,000 feet, leveled off, and then went down about two miles west of Plash Island.
The Pensacola Air Traffic Control tower had been following that flight all the way from Florida when they lost radar contact. The pilot was just minutes away from landing in Gulf Shores.
Federal investigators will be in Gulf Shores after the plane is recovered, which is expected later this week.

The Federal Aviation Administration reports the plane went down “under unknown circumstances.”
