The hit Netflix series will return to screens in November 2025, with the finale set to air on January 1 in the UK.
All the major characters are back, including the likes of Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke).
The new season will see the Stranger Things characters dealing with the fallout from the events of season four, which concluded with Vecna opening a portal in Hawkins.

What to expect in Stranger Things 5
Netflix, in its Stranger Things 5 synopsis, said: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna.
“But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown.
“Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
“As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread.
“The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.
“To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party – standing together, one last time.”

The trailer features flashbacks from the first four seasons before showing snippets of what is to come in season five.
It concludes with a clip of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) screaming: “Run!”
