Nearly a third of UK workers secretly use AI, research finds

Nearly one in three employees using generative artificial intelligence tools at work are keeping it secret from their bosses, either to gain a hidden advantage or because they fear it could cost them their jobs.

New research from Ivanti, a US-based enterprise software company, has revealed that 29 per cent of UK workers are quietly using AI in the workplace without disclosing it to their employers.

Despite growing concerns about the cybersecurity risks posed by unregulated AI use, adoption is rising fast in the UK. Nearly half — 49 per cent — of UK employees reported using AI at work in 2025, up from just 32 per cent the year before.
