Mýse, in Hovingham, secured the 10th spot in a list compiled by Time Out, a hospitality media site.
According to its food and drink editor, Leonie Cooper, Mýse is “delightful” and has successfully aimed for Michelin star status, which it achieved less than a year after opening in the summer of 2023.
The venue, which also offers rooms to stay in, has a “tiny tasting menu” featuring dishes including duck and mead broth served with liver crumpet, Lindisfarne oysters with watercress pesto and seaweed granita, and Herdwick lamb saddle with tetragonia spinach and a lamb tongue, pearl barley and anchovy garum sauce.
Mýse is run by a chef and sommelier team, Joshua and Victoria Overington.
A spokesperson for Mýse said on its website: “Whether for drinks by the log fire in our snug, dining under the soaring beams and large windows, enjoying the spectacle of our open kitchen or staying for a restful night in one of our beautiful en-suite rooms, our newly renovated 19th-century inn is full of character and charm to beguile the senses.
“With a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, our aim is to create a fine-dining experience that will excite and surprise our guests, creating memories for long to come.”
The restaurant’s dinner tasting menu is priced at £165, while lunch is available for £115.
Mýse celebrates ancient North Yorkshire and is named after the Anglo-Saxon word for ‘eating at the table’.
Ingredients and flavours are ‘unique to our location’ and cocktails include items that have been foraged from the surrounding area.
