Multiple local schools rank in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges publication

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Multiple local colleges and universities ranked in the U.S. News and World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges publication.

West Virginia Wesleyan College was recognized as the No. 2 Best Value School in the southern region.

In determining Best Value Schools, the U.S. News & World Report considered academic quality and cost after accounting for total expenses and financial aid.

In the Best Regional Colleges South division, West Virginia Wesleyan College and Davis & Elkins College tied for No. 27. Glenville State University also made it onto the list at No. 59.

Davis & Elkins College is listed as the No. 15 top performers in the Social Mobility category in the southern region. The Social Mobility category measures how well schools enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants.

Glenville ranked No. 51 on the Social Mobility listed with WVWC ranking at No. 63.

West Virginia University made it on the best national universities list, as well, at No. 222.
