Multiple injured, part of SB US-131 closed due to crash

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — Part of southbound US-131 in Wayland Township is closed due to a crash that has injured multiple people, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.

Allegan County Dispatch started receiving reports of a multi-car crash around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. It happened near Mile Marker 59. It is not clear what led up to the crash at this time, but investigators say speed is believed to be a factor.

Authorities say multiple people were injured. 

The passing lane is currently closed, according to the sheriff’s office. The highway is also closed at Mile Marker 61 for cleanup. Drivers are asked to avoid this area of southbound US-131 while crews work.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by Wayland EMS, Plainwell EMS, Life EMS, Wayland FD, Martin FD, Hopkins FD, Wayland PD, Gun Lake Tribal PD, Allegan County Accident Reconstruction Team, MDOT, Allegan Central Dispatch and Allegan County Emergency Management.
