The Mountain CAP Family Support Center has teamed up with the WVU Extension Service’s Family Nutrition Program to host “Eating Smart, Being Active,” a free series of interactive lessons focused on healthy living. The next class meets on February 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Mountain CAP Family Support Center located at 30 East Main Street.
Designed for anyone looking to make better food choices on a budget, the hands-on course will cover cooking techniques, money-saving tips and food safety. Participants can sample new recipes each week and will receive weekly giveaways, along with a graduation certificate at the end of the program.
Organizers say the goal is to empower community members with the tools and knowledge to plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals while staying physically active. Those interested in attending can contact instructor Lise-Marie VanNostrand at 304-878-1115 or Lvannostrand@mountaincapwv.org for more details. Child care can be provided at no cost if arranged prior to the start of the class. Space is limited to 12 participants.
The event is supported by a USDA grant in collaboration with the WVU Extension Service.
