MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Mobile man who admitted to sending sexually-explicit images over the internet will go to prison for more than 17 years.
A federal judge today set the sentence for Jason Jones, 46, who pleaded guilty in June to sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
Jones is one of 205 people — including three in the Mobile area — arrested as part of a child exploitation investigation dubbed “Operation Restore Justice.”
According to his written plea agreement, Jones, who was living in Alabama, was posing as a 19-year-old from Tennessee and sending sexually-explicit images to young girls with whom he was chatting online. Court documents revealed that he communicated with two girls, ages 11 and 13. He would manipulate underage girls to produce and send him pornographic images, according to court documents.
Court records say investigators took five cell phones from Jones, and found sexually-explicit images of children on three of his devices.
Following his prison term, Jones will be place on supervised release for 15 years and will be forbidden from possessing internet-capable devices. He is also ordered to have no contact with minors and will be required to register as a sex offender.
