Nirmal: A minor boy was arrested for allegedly transferring money from the public through digital payment applications to others by stealing mobile phones in Sarangapur mandal centre on Friday. Police seized Rs 38,000 in cash and a mobile phone from him.
Nirmal Rural Inspector M Krishna said that the minor boy, who was working at a grocery store in Nirmal town, was apprehended for transferring funds from the stolen mobile phones to others. He was taken into custody while moving suspiciously during a vehicle check.
On being interrogated, the boy confessed to committing the crime by stealing mobile phones of customers at the grocery store. He admitted to transferring Rs 33,000 through GPay and PhonePe using the mobile phones. He also revealed that he had sold a mobile phone which he had stolen from a customer.
