McDonald’s is bringing back a fan favorite, the Snack Wrap soon … but not just yet.
The fast food chain’s CEO, Christopher Kempczinski said earlier this week, “This year, there is incredible energy for the return of Snack Wraps in the U.S., along with a few other markets,” in discussing McDonald’s plans and its fourth quarter financial performance with investment analysts.
Back in December, Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s U.S. operations, said on “Good Morning America” that the Snack Wrap would return in 2025. “It has a cult following. I get so many emails into my inbox about this product,” he said.
Here’s what we know about the return of the Snack Wrap and more chicken products coming to McDonald’s.
When is the Snack Wrap coming back?
Kempczinski would not say exactly when Snack Wraps would return, but said they would be available later this year.

When McDonald posted a teaser on X, the social platform previously known as Twitter, last year, it simply said, “snack wraps xx.xx.2025”.

What is a McDonald’s Snack Wrap?
The Snack Wrap first hit the McDonald’s menu in 2006. Over the next decade, it would have “several different iterations,” according to the Food Network, but its main ingredients were chicken breast meat (grilled or crispy), lettuce, cheese and sauce, in a soft flour tortilla. The item was discontinued 2016, but some restaurants continued to offer it until 2020 when it was taken off the menu to simplify McDonald’s offerings during the COVID-19 pandemic, the outlet said.
More in store for McDonald’s ‘chicken portfolio’
Going forward consumers can expect more chicken menu items to expand McDonald’s “chicken portfolio,” Kempczinski said during the conference call on Monday. “A new chicken strip offering” will be launched in the U.S. and the Chicken Big Mac will return as a limited time-only offering, he said.

$5 Meal Deal has been a success
The continued availability of the $5 Meal Deal is “driving other purchases,” Kempczinski said. The spending on an average order in the U.S. that includes a $5 Meal Deal is more than $10, he said. “So it’s doing what we were hoping for when we launched that.”
The fast food giant saw sales in the U.S. fall 1.4% during the fourth quarter, during which the company faced an E.coli outbreak linked to onions on quarter pounders, which led to at least one death.
But global same-store sales increased 0.4% in the quarter. Many analysts are bullish on McDonald’s, which has seen its shares rise nearly 7% so fare this year.
McDonald’s Angel Reese Special meal
New to the menu this week is the Angel Reese Special, which includes a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese topped with a new BBQ sauce, plus French fries and a drink. The meal is a collaboration with Reese, who is currently playing for the Rose Basketball Club in the new three-on-three Unrivaled league.

McDonald’s Pokémon Happy Meal
Also available through late February are Pokémon-themed Happy Meals, which include a booster pack with four of 15 Pokémon cards, a Pokémon poster and a sticker sheet they can use to decorate the poster. If you order through the McDonald’s app, you can also get 24-pack hourglasses and 12 wonder hourglasses to use in the mobile Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Shamrock Shakes are back at McDonald’s
Also available now is the Shamrock Shake, which returned to the menu earlier this week, joined by the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry. As in years past, McDonald’s will donate 25 cents per Shamrock Shake purchased through March 23 to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
