A Manitowoc man with a history of abusing children was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison Friday for repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor and using the child to create pornography.
Robert Nytes, 49, was indicted in October and pleaded guilty a month later to a charge of receipt of child pornography, according to court records.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office received a report in August 2023 that a child had been assaulted for over a year by Nytes.
He was previously convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child in two separate cases in Sheboygan County Circuit Court; both cases were filed in 1995.
After completion of his sentence, Nytes will be on supervised release for the rest of his life. He will be required to register as a sex offender under state and federal law.
