COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A man was killed in a shooting near a shopping center in north Columbus Wednesday afternoon.
Columbus police said the shooting happened around 6:10 p.m. near the Target at 1485 Polaris Parkway. Preliminary information released by Sgt. Joe Albert with the Public Information Unit indicates police believe the man was involved in an altercation at the entrance to some apartments behind the Target.
Officers found the man inside a black sedan in the wooded area near the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.
Sgt. Albert said it appears someone shot the man, and then the man crashed close to the Target parking lot while trying to get away. Officers are searching for the shooter who they believe left in a gold sedan.
While it happened close to the Target, the store was not locked down. Albert asked that anyone with videos, images, or information contact police at 614-645-4730.
