Maine educator facetimes with President Joe Biden
The two discussed a recent childcare expansion in our state
Sanford-Springvale YMCA Pre-K teacher, Liz Reynolds, recently got to facetime with President Joe Biden, as part of the White House’s Investing in America Content Series. President Biden is zooming or Facetiming directly into the businesses and homes of ordinary Americans who are benefitting from his agenda. The Sanford-Springvale YMCA received a $250,000 grant to expand their childcare center, with American Rescue Plan funds. The YMCA was able to add 3 new classrooms to their childcare center. The expansion allows the Sanford-area YMCA to care for an additional 30 children and serve families with children as young as 6 weeks old. Prior to that, the Sanford-Springvale YMCA was only able to serve families with children between 3 and 5 years old. Reynolds is one of 14 new hires at the Sanford-Springvale YMCA. During the facetime, President Biden said, “The pressure you’re taking off so many parents and the ability for them to work and make a living and grow the economy it’s really amazing.” Reynolds replied, “It’s been great to have them drop off and they know that they can join the workforce and their kids are safe here.”
