BEMIDJI – Coming off its impressive comeback win over Sartell on Saturday, the Bemidji High School girls soccer team took a less dramatic route to beat Grand Rapids.
The Lumberjacks scored four goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 win at Bemidji Middle School on Tuesday.
Stella Schoonover opened the scoring in the sixth minute, then Izzy Renn doubled the lead in the 20th with an assist from Schoonover.
Isabelle Vaughn scored twice in three minutes. She got her first with a shot over the keeper, with an assist from Maya Thompson. Her second came in the form of a shot that ricocheted off of keeper Rylee Major and in, with an assist from Raeghan Baird.
Thompson picked up her second assist in the 74th minute, helping the ball to Kaycee Christianson, who finished with a chip shot.
Clara Bieber made seven saves in goal for BHS (2-1). Major finished with nine stops for the Thunderhawks.
