Lost your phone on Halloween in Austin? Police may have found it

Losing a cell phone isn’t the sort of fright most people seek on Halloween, but that’s what happened to dozens of people in a bustling area of Austin.

Over 100 phones suspected to have been stolen in downtown Austin over Halloween weekend have been recovered, the Austin Police Department announced Friday.

The department is asking individuals who believe their phones were taken in the downtown area that weekend to file an online report. Owners must include the international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) as well as the cell phone serial number in order to confirm the matches. These numbers can either be found on the Apple box the phone came in or be obtained by contacting the cell phone carrier.

Of those recovered, investigators still need to identify the owners of 17 phones from their lock screen photos.
