London seven times more reliant on temporary housing than rest of UK as homelessness soars

• Homelessness in London has surged by 35% since 2020, with councils in the capital now seven times more reliant on temporary accommodation than the rest of England, according to Crisis

• Over half of all temporary housing placements in England are made by London boroughs, which collectively spend £5.5 million a day housing homeless families as budgets come under strain

• The Government has pledged £1 billion for homelessness services and £39 billion for social and affordable housing, as Crisis urges ministers to act urgently to prevent further rises
