Liverpool are setting off on their next phase of preseason after the initial player testing and training sessions at the AXA Training Center. The Reds are embarking to Hong Kong for a week of training, followed by a friendly with AC Milan. Liverpool will then head to Tokyo for a few more training sessions before facing Yokohama F Marinos.
Preseason tours can often offer a mixed bag of senior and academy players. It is frequently a chance for some of the invited academy players to get a taste of first team training, and maybe even catch the eye of the manager and the supporters.
This summer, however, it seems that Arne Slot will have very limited slots for academy players to travel to Asia. With no major senior international competitions this summer, all of the first team squad are available for the full preseason tour. Even Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton have returned from winning the U21 Euros with the England to take part in the tour to Asia. On top of the unusually full complement of first team players, Slot has quite a few new signings to focus on getting bedded into the squad.
While a final travel roster has not been released at this time, it is believed that attackers Rio Ngumoha and Jayden Danns, as well as midfielder Trey Nyoni will be included in the traveling squad. Young center back Amara Nallo is another name that may be included with the squad light in central defenders currently. According to Jack Lusby of This is Anfield, highly rated attacker Kieran Morrison and midfielder Tommy Pilling has been informed he will not be part of the tour.
