List of popular apps and websites affected as impacts of global service disruption continue

Dozens of popular apps and websites continue to experience disruptions caused by a major outage at Amazon Web Services, a cloud computing service that powers much of the internet.

, a website that tracks online outages, users of apps such as Snapchat and WhatsApp and major websites, including Amazon, began reporting service disruptions shortly after 3 a.m. ET on Monday.

Amazon said that it was “investigating increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 Region” and that it was actively working to resolve them.

By 6:35 a.m. ET, that the issue had been “fully mitigated,” and that most services were working normally

But the company added that there could be some lingering delays.

“Some requests may be throttled while we work toward full resolution,” the update said.

Hours later, Amazon said it was still working to “address residual network connectivity issues.”

It’s unclear what caused the outage, though there were no indications that it was due to a cyberattack.
