Link Asset Management, the manager of Asia’s largest real estate investment trust, Link Reit, anticipates further rent negotiations in Hong Kong as the company focuses on maintaining occupancy rates. According to top executives, while the Hong Kong retail market faces challenges, properties in Singapore and Australia have outperformed expectations.

For the financial year ending in March, Link Reit reported a 4.6% increase in earnings, reaching HK$7.02 billion (US$896 million), with revenue climbing 4.8% to HK$14.22 billion. Net property income saw a 5.5% rise, totaling HK$10.6 billion. The company’s portfolio, valued at HK$226 billion as of March 31, includes over 150 properties across Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia, Singapore, and the UK.

Despite negative rent reversion of 2.2% in Hong Kong, Singapore’s retail assets demonstrated a positive reversion of 17.8%. Link Reit owns 12 properties in mainland China and is considering acquisitions in struggling markets, including Hong Kong, as part of its strategic expansion efforts.
