For his fall 2025 collection which he showed last February, the American menswear designer Todd Snyder was inspired by collegiate men in 1980s Paris and Alain Delon. For spring 2026, the nostalgia for for the 80’s and the pursuit of relaxed elegance continues. This time Todd, who has been heralded as the heir apparent to Ralph Lauren, set his sights on Havana and the rakish style of 1980’s Miami.

He calls his spring 2025 collection La Buena Vida which directly translates to the good life. “Picture a guy who just stepped off a seaplane, wearing a linen suit, a little rum in his glass, and a lot of confidence,” describes Todd of his collection. And linen suits there were aplenty, with broad shoulders and exaggerated lapels to better showcase the shirt collars that popped out of the blazers. The suits came with relaxed pleated trousers or drawstring shorts with cargo pockets. Along with the linen suits were versions in silk with the same relaxed silhouette paired with barely buttoned shirts.

The show venue, an unfinished floor in an office tower with exposed concrete columns and floor to ceiling glass walls, was lined with tropical plants like palm trees and bamboo. The models showcased the collection to the strums of Bossa nova. Striped and plaid shirts worn with matching drawstring shorts that hovered just below the knees, knitted shirts with vaguely retro patterns, high-waisted trousers cinched with slim elongated belts, polkadot shirts and shorts, belted safari and field jackets, and nylon windbreakers worn with coordinating shorts. The colors called to mind the heat and vibe of Havana and Miami — faded terracotta, tobacco, palm green and oceanic blue.

“Good style should feel this easy,” describes Todd. The clothes with their nonchalance and ease make for a great wardrobe come next spring. And by showing them on models that were diverse in age and ethnicities, Todd makes a strong case that good style transcends borders and demographics.
