La Ligua Club Reportedly Interested in Hamza Igamane

Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane’s standout performances with Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille have put him on the radar of La Liga team Villarreal CF, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Igamane signed with Lille from Rangers FC over the summer for a reported 12 million euros and in doing so put pen to paper on a long term contract that will keep him at the club until 2030. And what a way to break into his new home, scoring a brace in Lille’s 7–1 thrashing of Lorient on August 30.

High-profile Spanish outlet Marca has even compared Igamane’s impressive potential to that  of the beautiful sport’s undisputable legends, calling him “ the Moroccan Ronaldo Nazario.”

Why Villarreal could be interested

Villarreal are one of the teams following Igamane but no official offer has been made, Fichajes reported, adding that  a number of Premier League and Ligue 1 teams are also interested in the Moroccan forward.

Igamane boasts technical ability, physicality, and a goal-scoring instinct. So this is the kind of combination that may very well interest teams that are willing to invest in young players with high potential. For now, Igamane is shining in Ligue 1 and he has scored 8 goals in 448 minutes of play.

His playing style — strong, fast and capable of creating decisive moments — fits the profile of the type of player Villarreal often look for: immediate impact and long-term value.

While this is very interesting, any transfer would come with challenges. Lille just recently signed Igamane and are unlikely to sell a young player midway through the season unless one of his many suitors makes an unreasonably appealing offer. Igamane must also continue to be in form throughout the year for any European clubs to make serious inquiries about him.

Aside from the La Liga team, a lot of European clubs are reportedly interested and are keeping a close watch on Hamza Igamane. This means that the promising Moroccan striker keeps up his current form, it will be no surprise if a European powerhouse club comes up with a serious offer to lure the player in the relatively near future.
