The second our alarms ring, we meet a bright, glaring screen: our phone. It does not help that our phones are often our alarms, so we have to pick up our phones to turn them off. Yet we do not stop there. Sometimes, those minutes turn into hours. We consume what should be more than a day’s worth of Instagram posts, TikTok videos and Snapchat stories. We might delay breakfast or disregard it entirely. We scroll on our phones with the hope of feeling connected and aware of the world around us, but, instead, we feel tired before our day even begins.
