Karoline Leavitt’s Attempt At Playing With Proportions Led To A Stunning Fashion Fail

Karoline Leavitt's Attempt At Playing With Proportions Led To A Stunning Fashion Fail

On June 2, 2025, Karoline Leavitt wore an oversized green blazer with black slacks in an effort to experiment with proportions, and it was a stunning fail. The White House Press Secretary stepped outside to speak with reporters in the extra-large blazer, an ill-fitting garment that was ultimately distracting. We understood what Leavitt was trying to do; oversized blazers have long been a chic way to create visual interest in an outfit. They tap into the eternally stylish conceit of women in menswear, which is always fabulous and playful, and they’re a great option in the workplace.

Unfortunately, part of the art of pulling off an oversized blazer has to do with knowing one’s own body type, and Leavitt is too petite to look good in such a big piece of clothing. On top of that, the color choice was a tough one. Such a vivid, lime green appeared garish rather than stylish.

In a video shared by Forbes Breaking News, people had all kinds of thoughts on Leavitt’s blazer. “[I]s she wearing Roseanne Barr’s jacket?” one person asked in the comments, referring to the beloved ’80s comedian. “[T]hat is an interesting choice of sport coat,” another viewer noted. “Why did she let her mom dress her like the riddler?” someone else joked, referring to the comic book villain. And lastly, one commenter said what we’re all thinking: “That jacket is way too big for her.” Indeed, it was.

Karoline Leavitt can’t stop aging herself with her wardrobe choices

Karoline Leavitt routinely gets called out for her ill-fitting wardrobe. In fact, all of Leavitt’s worst outfits have one thing in common — they age her. Some folks have come up with a theory that she dresses for her husband, Nicholas Riccio, who is 32 years older than her. In a photo Leavitt shared on Instagram in June 2025, people referenced this exact theory, even though she was in a pink dress rather than an oversized blazer. “Ahh look another grandma outfit for her old man!” one person commented. Someone else also got a little snarky, writing, “I bet you use your gaslighting skills to make yourself believe this outfit looks good lol.”

The truth is, Leavitt often dresses in frumpy ways that don’t flatter her. The press secretary could step up her style game by wearing more flattering colors and nixing the bland neutrals that dominate her closet. Perhaps the green blazer from June 2025 was an attempt at doing just this. Unfortunately, neither the color nor the proportions of the jacket were right for her, and this blazer is just another moment when Leavitt missed the style mark.
