Jeff Bezos makes shocking prediction about the future of human civilization

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has made an alarming prediction about the future of civilization.

With technology and specifically, artificial intelligence, advancing at an alarming rate, many have been left concerned over how AI could impact the planet and what the next few decades may look like on Earth.

While many recognise the brilliant benefits that AI can bring, excitement over its advances is often mixed with nerves, especially when considering some of the darker sides of artificial intelligence.

For example, the company behind ChatGPT — OpenAI — has been working on a study that looked into the jobs most likely to cease to exist due to the development of AI.

The team used a specialized test known as GDPval to see how technology stacked up against human workers in nine sectors across the US, and whether AI could ultimately perform the tasks humans are currently being paid to do.

Some 44 types of jobs most likely at risk as the presence of AI in everyday life continues to increase.

Bezos is pretty optimistic about the developments of the tech, however, and thinks that humanity is about to enter a golden age.

“I don’t see how anybody can be discouraged who is alive right now,” Bezos told an audience at Italian Tech Week.

Bezos also thinks that many people will be living in space within the next few decades.

“In the next kind of couple of decades, I believe there will be millions of people living in space,” he said.

“That’s how fast this is going to accelerate.

“They’ll mostly be living there because they want to.

“We don’t need people to live in space. If you need to do some work on the surface of the moon or anywhere else, we will be able to send robots to do that work and that will be much more cost effective than sending humans.”

Bezos also batted away any doom and gloom about AI, adding that it can only enhance our lives.

“Civilizational abundance comes from our inventions,” he added.

“So 10,000 years ago, or whenever it was, somebody invented the plough, and we all got richer … I’m talking about all of civilization — these tools increase our abundance, and that pattern will continue.”

Speaking of living up in space, NASA has detailed an ambitious plan that could see people living on the moon in ‘lunar glass’ domes in the future.

As per a new report from The Telegraph, NASA is funding a project aiming to develop glass domes which can be created on the moon.

The ambitious plan would utilise particles known as ‘lunar regolith’ found on the moon’s surface to create what would be large glass domes that astronauts could ultimately reside in.

The project is spearheaded by California-based company Skyeports, with chief executive Dr Martin Bermudez hopeful that one day we could see entire cities on the Moon joined together by glass spheres.

“You will never replicate Earth, but this is something that gets pretty close, and we could even put them into orbit one day,” Dr Bermudez said.

“Space has always been kind of fascinating for me, and my background was as an architect so I had the chance to start exploring how we can build structures on the Moon or Mars.”
