SILVIS, Ill. (KWQC) – Spectators at the John Deere Classic showed off their passion for fashion.
Style and golf go hand-in-hand and spectators at the JDC said their outfits were well-planned out as a way to have fun with both golf and fashion.
“This is what we know as a party shirt,” said Brian Pope. “It’s actually from a friend of ours who runs a trail running company. So, we wear it to represent that and have fun with it.”
Some spectators said they enjoy to JDC because it’s a chance to walk around the course, enjoy some food and buy merchandise.
The Assistant Golf Professional at the merchandise tent said during the tournament they have lots of staff on hand to help with large crowds of shoppers.
“We’ve got a great team, especially this year,” said Peyton Tanghe. “We have a lot of temp staff that comes in and just helps us out for the week, so we really enjoy having everybody. It feels like a family atmosphere and we’re all able to joke around with each other and help each other out.”
The clothes that spectators wear also serve as a form of self expression.
“It’s really cool to kind of tell a story almost, behind the t-shirt and behind the design,” Tanghe said. “That’s really the goal, is to catch someone’s eye and really tell a story behind the design or the history and things like that.”
The course was full of vibrant colors and even some matching outfits.
“My grandma got them for us for like when we play tennis or golf,” said Ellis Hoescher. “So, sometimes we wear these to like church or when we go play golf.”
Saturday was round three of play at the JDC.
After golf wrapped up, country music star Dierks Bently took the stage to perform at Concerts on the Course.
