A day after Milwaukee police issued an amber alert for Jamal White, the 7-year-old has been found.
White was “taken at gunpoint” outside of his residence around 7:00 p.m. local time on Friday, July 11, the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) said in a notice following the alleged abduction.
At 6:36 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, the MPD announced that White had been safely located, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Jamal has been located and is safe,” the MPD said, per the Journal Sentinel. “The Milwaukee Police Department would like to thank everyone for their assistance in this matter.”
A spokesperson for the MPD also confirmed the news in a statement to PEOPLE on Sunday, July 13, stating that White “was found and is safe.”
A 25-year-old man was arrested in relation to White’s disappearance, the MPD spokesperson said, adding that “criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.”
Wisconsin Amber Alert
White, who is also known as “Baby J,” was taken in a white Jeep Renegade SUV with an unknown license plate by a Black male suspect wearing a black face mask and a black hooded sweatshirt, according to the alert.
No other details tied to the alleged abduction have been released.
Cherica Morrise, a woman who said she is White’s grandmother, also announced that he had been found in a post on Facebook, writing, “Baby J has been found and he’s okay! One person has been arrested. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support!”
White’s cousin Nikki Harrington told the Journal Sentinel that the 7-year-old was taken to a hospital to be examined.

Harrington told the Journal Sentinel that she did not have any information about White’s disappearance, and that she and the family are waiting for police to conduct an investigation.
Another one of White’s cousins, Raven Jackson, described the young boy to the Milwaukee newspaper as a sweet, playful and charismatic kid who “just enjoys being him.”
Jackson also said White loves cartoons and cars, as well as listening to music.
