Indianapolis’ fashion scene is getting a bold upgrade. One year after first appearing on Business, Equity & Opportunities, international designer Ben Diallo has officially opened a new J. Benzal store at 40 East Washington Street—and he’s celebrating in style.
The grand opening includes a fashion show on Thursday, October 23, featuring J. Benzal’s latest line of suits, sport coats, and accessories. Diallo, who made Indianapolis his design home after a global career, says the move marks a milestone in his brand’s continued growth and connection to the city.
“We’re very excited about our new downtown location. It’s not just a store—it’s an experience,” he said while giving BE&O a sneak preview of his new space.
Inside, the layout reflects Diallo’s eye for detail: sport coats on one side, an evolving seasonal display in the center, and rows of custom-tailored suits, shirts, and accessories throughout. The store also features a private area for custom fittings, where clients can select from premium fabrics to create one-of-a-kind garments.
Diallo emphasizes versatility in men’s fashion—pairing sport coats with jeans or layering lightweight looks for summer and darker tones for winter. And, as he reminds clients, “Every man should have a navy suit in his closet—it’s the ultimate staple.”
With an emphasis on craftsmanship, elegance, and personal service, J. Benzal’s expansion cements Indianapolis’ growing reputation as a hub for fashion and design innovation.
