Introducing Expert Perspectives: A New Type of Email Newsletter From The Business of Fashion

Dear BoF Community,

Over the last decade-plus, The Business of Fashion has assembled an unrivalled global team of fashion and beauty journalists, each an expert on their beat. You’re undoubtedly familiar with their work, whether it’s offering up a buzzy luxury scoop, dissecting a cool marketing campaign or explaining the latest developments in AI. Perhaps you’ve noticed a byline at the top of a particularly insightful story and wondered, what might that reporter tell me if I bought them a cup of coffee and asked them to spill the tea.

With our new Expert Perspectives newsletters, we’re inviting you to find out. Each week, our top reporters will offer their take on the hottest news and industry trends in their area of expertise. Each edition is packed with exclusive information, scoops and insights straight from our reporters’ brains and notebooks. This is their point of view, unfiltered.

Explore our newly formed newsletter suite here.

Here’s our launch-day lineup:

Mike Sykes, our sports correspondent, writes The Kicks You Wear, where on any given Tuesday or Friday you might find an exclusive interview with Tommy Hilfiger, his take on the latest drops or why he thinks the sneaker mega-merger everyone’s talking about is never going to happen. Be sure to submit photos of your own kicks for a chance to be featured in an upcoming edition.

Priya Rao, executive editor of The Business of Beauty, opens her notebook to you every Thursday with Full Coverage. Priya is a true authority on all things beauty and wellness, and she’ll be telling you everything she’s hearing on M&A, product launches and more, plus interviews with newsmakers (who else can just casually ring up Bobbi Brown for a chat?).

The Frayed Edge is where chief sustainability correspondent Sarah Kent sheds some light on fashion’s dark side – and the activists, thinkers and executives trying to make things better. Each Friday she runs through the week’s sustainability news, separating fact from fiction, and real progress from empty hype. I’ve known Sarah since well before either of us joined BoF, and her intelligence and wit really shine through here, even as she’s tackling a tough subject.

London editor Marc Bain is behind Tech Mode, where he’ll round up a month’s worth of news on AI, wearables, social media and whatever else lies at the intersection of fashion and technology. You’ll want to read this one, if only because Marc’s the only reporter I know who gets the call both from Meta to try their latest Ray-Bans and Ralph Lauren to test out their new AI shopping assistant.

And there’s much more to come.

Brian Baskin, Executive Editor, The Business of Fashion
