The University of Exeter has signed a new agreement with Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT), recognising our growing collaborations and confirming our commitment to a long-term and impactful partnership.
A delegation led by Professor Lisa Roberts, President and Vice-Chancellor, visited Hangzhou to sign the new agreement with ZJUT’s President Gao, which sets out our long-term plans to deliver a range of ambitious education and research projects together.
ZJUT has a strong reputation as a leading technology university in China, and shares a common purpose with Exeter in how they both use the power of education and research to deliver a greener, healthier, and fairer future.
Building on these foundations, ZJUT and Exeter will continue to work together to tackle some of the big challenges facing our world, collaborating on areas such as sustainable energy development and digital intelligence.
The partnership will also bring together students and faculty from subject areas including engineering, environmental science, computer and data analytics, information technology, and communications.
The new agreement signed by Professor Roberts and President Gao will strengthen the understanding and commitment of both partners to work together in key areas, including in digital and energy themes, which complement Exeter’s existing strengths.
For example, Exeter’s ambition to stay at the cutting edge of digital technology has already seen a significant investment in the Accelerating Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (ADA) project, announced earlier this year. This includes new academic posts, which will break new ground in our efforts to use digital technologies to advance environmental intelligence, sustainability and human health. ZJUT’s complementary expertise and outstanding facilities means we are well placed to collaborate together under the theme of digital futures.
Speaking after the signing, Professor Roberts said: “This is a deeply significant moment for the University of Exeter, as we look to develop key strategic partnerships to deliver our Strategy 2030. In ZJUT we have a like-minded partner who shares our vision to bring science, education and business together. Our new partnership will do this and nurture skills and talent for the future, whilst enabling both universities to grow our education provision in exciting new directions.
