I'm a 52-year-old fashion influencer — here are 5 fall wardrobe staples I swear by

Fall is such a great season for fashion. There are new trends, cute boots, lots of layers and cozy sweaters. That said, it can sometimes be difficult to know what to invest in for the seasons ahead, especially when there’s so much to choose from. As a content creator, I love helping women of all ages create realistic outfits that remain true to their style and budgets. To help Yahoo Canada readers this fall, I’ve gone ahead and rounded up five fall fashion staples that I own and wholeheartedly recommend. These items are stylish, versatile and best of all — affordable. Keep scrolling to shop my autumn wardrobe favourites.

1. Old Navy’s viral fleece pullover

I’ve seen so many people talk about this fleece pullover on social media, so I had to give it a try — and I was not disappointed! It’s really cozy and feels high-quality. I tried on my usual size small (burgundy), plus one in medium (green) and a large sweater (brown), and they all fit great. I preferred the roomy fit of the medium. For reference, I am 5’7 and wear a size four.

2. A quilted jacket

I have a black quilted jacket that I got at Aritzia two years ago and have worn so much. It’s a really great basic, but it’s sold out, so I looked on Amazon and found one that’s similar and looks high-quality. Since I already have black, I’ve reordered it in olive green, but it also comes in brown and other cute fall colours.

Here is my review of the Amazon jacket:

3. A silk scarf

Silk scarves have been trending as an accessory lately and I think its such a fun and easy way to add a bit of personality and interest to an outfit! Over the summer I saw it styled around the waist a lot which I think will continue into fall but also styled around the neck, either cowboy/bandana style or tied more like a girl scout, or tie it in your hair or on your bag, the options really are endless. I find the 27×27 inch scarves the most versatile size. This scarf comes in several prints and color combos:

4. A brown suede bag

Brown suede is a huge trend for fall 2025. Everything from jackets, loafers, sneakers and boots, but especially bags. I found it hard to find a nice suede bag because faux suede can often look cheap and real suede can be expensive but I finally found a bag that’s the real thing, excellent quality, has two strap options and is a decent price.

5. A wool camel coat

A camel coat is such a classic wardrobe staple and is truly versatile. A few years ago, I did a deep dive comparison of ten camel coats at various price points and I found that the nicest looking, best quality coat was “The Only Coat” from Aritzia. I loved it so much I got it in grey a year later but I still wear the camel one the most.

Here is a roundup of wool coats I tried. The Artizia wool coat is the first one:
