Huntsville hosts free health-focused activities for residents 50 and older

The Healthy Hearts Expo, hosted by Huntsville Parks & Rec, will provide wellness tips and activities for residents 50+ on Feb. 17.

DECATUR, Ala. — In honor of National Heart Month, Huntsville Parks & Recreation will host a Healthy Hearts Expo for residents ages 50 and older on Monday, Feb. 17. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mark Russell Recreation Center, located at 429 Taylor Road in Owens Cross Roads.

The expo aims to promote a healthy lifestyle in all aspects: physical, mental, and financial. Attendees will have the chance to explore vendor booths offering valuable community resources, while also participating in a variety of activities designed to improve overall well-being.

Event highlights include:

  • 9:30 a.m. – Be Healthy Online!: Learn how to safeguard your online profile
  • 10 a.m. – Free line dancing class and a pickleball demonstration
  • 10:30 a.m. – Organized Home = Less Stress!: Tips on organizing your home for a stress-free life
  • 11:30 a.m. – Another pickleball demonstration

“Healthy Hearts Expo is a great way for our 50-plus residents to learn more about healthy lifestyle choices, from keeping them safe online to simple ways to stay active and healthy,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “It’s also a great opportunity for those who haven’t visited the Mark Russell Recreation Center to explore the facility and the many programs we offer.”
