Hongkonger among 44 injured in collision between 2 Tokyo tour buses

A Hongkonger was among those injured when two tour buses collided in Japan on Saturday, according to the city’s immigration authorities.

A travel agency also revealed on Sunday that six Hong Kong residents had been travelling on one of the two Tokyo tour buses at the time of the accident.

It was not immediately clear which bus the injured Hongkonger was travelling on.

According to Japanese media, at least 44 people were injured when one of the buses was rear-ended by the other at around 10am on Saturday on a section of the Chuo Expressway near Hachioji, a city in the western part of the Greater Tokyo Metropolitan area.

Hong Kong’s Immigration Department confirmed to the Post that it had received a request for assistance from a Hongkonger who was slightly injured in the incident, adding that the person had not required hospitalisation.

“[The department] has provided appropriate advice and assistance according to the wishes [of the individual],” a spokesman said on Saturday night.
