Hong Kong’s sporting future: here are 5 major events the city should think about hosting

The city wants to be an international sporting hub, and now has the stadium to fulfil part of that dream, but one swallow does not a summer make and we’ve been thinking about what else we’d like to see happen.

Call it a wish list, call it a money-no-object fantasy, but if you don’t dream big then what’s the point. Here then are five major sporting events the Post sports desk thinks could be on the city’s calendar, all of which come with the added bonus of a significant tourism boost

The NFL

Kai Tak Stadium is exactly the sort of space that could host American Football, and why not?

There are already international games in London, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and from next year Melbourne.

The Los Angeles Rams are the designated home team for the Australian venture, and with the West Coast the closest of the US destinations, anyone interested in the San Francisco 49ers or Seattle Seahawks doing their thing in Hong Kong?
