Hong Kong stocks rise slightly despite ongoing tariff tensions between the US and China

The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.1 per cent to 23,495.17 at 10.05am local time, while the Hang Seng Tech Index was 0.5 per cent lower. On Friday, the indexes ended up 4 per cent and 6.5 per cent, respectively, their best trading day since October.

On the mainland, the CSI 300 Index and the Shanghai Composite Index both dropped 0.2 per cent.

Trip.com rose 4 per cent to HK$533 and Tongcheng Travel Holdings climbed 3.6 per cent to HK$19.12. Hua Hong Semiconductor climbed 2.9 per cent to HK$41.45, while Haier Smart Home rose 2.6 per cent to HK$25.65.

On the downside, Wuxi Biologics sank 10.4 per cent to HK$23.30 and pharmaceutical company Wuxi AppTec slumped 9.1 per cent to HK$63.60. PC maker Lenovo Group dropped 5.2 per cent to HK$12.90.
