Hong Kong products expo eyes 30% jump in attendance after return of multiple-entry visas

The organiser of one of Hong Kong’s largest annual bazaars has said it expects stronger attendance numbers and a higher percentage of mainland Chinese visitors after authorities reintroduced multiple-entry visas for Shenzhen residents.

The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong said on Wednesday the 58th edition of the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo would open at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay on December 14 and run until January 6.

Association president Wingco Lo Kam-wing said he was optimistic about attendance at this year’s event.

“We are confident about this year’s foot traffic and sales, as the expo has always been an annual tradition in the city. Additionally, we prepared many special deals to celebrate our anniversary,” he said.

“We also expect an increase in tourists from the mainland this year, as the recent expansion of multiple-entry visas for Shenzhen residents allows over 10 million people to visit the city more conveniently. There is a lot of potential here.”

The 24-day show features 420 exhibitors with more than 900 booths offering food, home appliances, and beauty and health products at significant discounts.

Organisers will also offer special deals to celebrate the association’s 90th anniversary.
