Hong Kong police have arrested three men on suspicion of drug trafficking, seizing seven kilograms of heroin with a street value of HK$4.3 million (US$553,000).
The force revealed on Sunday that officers from the narcotics bureau had arrested the trio aged between 27 and 46 on the previous day in during a raid on a warehouse inside an industrial building on Kwai Fuk Road in Tsing Yi.
One of the arrestees was a local man, while the other two were from mainland China.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the Hongkonger was in charge of managing the warehouse, while his mainland accomplices were tasked with transporting the drugs.
They added that the operation successfully intercepted a substantial amount of drugs from entering the local market, and they would continue to trace the source of the drugs.
Police detained the trio for investigation and would place a holding charge of drug trafficking against them. Their case is set to be mentioned at West Kowloon Court on Monday.
