Hong Kong investigates after part of Causeway Bay shore turns white

Hong Kong environmental authorities have launched an investigation after part of the shoreline in Causeway Bay turned a milky white, possibly due to a suspected illegal discharge of pollutants.

But no detectable odour was reported at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the Environmental Protection Department said on Wednesday that personnel were dispatched to conduct an on-site investigation at Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter after receiving reports.

There were no dead fish and the pH and dissolved oxygen levels remained normal, it said.

But white-coloured waste water was seen being discharged from a stormwater drain near Victoria Park Road.
