26th April 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Customs has successfully intercepted three dangerous drug trafficking cases between 24th April and 26th April , resulting in the seizure of approximately 55 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds, 7 kilograms of suspected heroin, 2 kilograms of suspected liquid etomidate, 200 grams of other suspected cannabis products, and a batch of drug packing tools. The total estimated market value of the seized drugs is around $19 million. Six men and one woman have been arrested in connection with these cases.
In the first operation on 24th April, Customs inspected an air cargo consignment at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) declared as LED lights and arriving from the United States. Inside the shipment, officials found approximately 55 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds concealed in 23 packing boxes. A controlled delivery operation in Tsuen Wan on 25th April led to the arrest of a 58-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman. Later, two more men, aged 27 and 26, were arrested in Yau Tong, where officials seized another 200 grams of suspected cannabis drugs and drug packing tools from their vehicle. The first two suspects have been released on bail, while the other two have been charged with attempting to traffic dangerous drugs and will appear at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts on 28th April.
In a separate case, Customs, in collaboration with Mainland authorities, inspected an express parcel labelled as coconut oil at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point on April 25. Inside, officers discovered 2 kilograms of suspected liquid etomidate concealed in four bottles, with an estimated value of $2 million. A controlled delivery operation in San Po Kong the same day resulted in the arrest of two suspects, aged 14 and 24. The older suspect faces an additional charge of resisting a Customs officer. Both will appear at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts on 28th April.
Today, another case was detected at HKIA involving a 22-year-old male passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During customs clearance, officers found 7 kilograms of suspected heroin hidden in his check-in suitcase, valued at approximately $5 million. The passenger has been charged with drug trafficking and will appear at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on 28th April.
