Mo, who was released earlier this week alongside three former legislators, also said on Friday she had read more than 300 books while in jail and expressed her gratitude to her friends and family.
“Many thanks for all the concern and care expressed upon my release. Prison life was surreal, almost Kafkaesque to start with. But I didn’t suffer the two major incarceration traumas, loneliness and boredom, thanks to the social arrangements inside,” she wrote in a social media post.
“During my time in custody, I’ve managed to read more than 300 books, mainly novels. Been also picking up on my French.”
She thanked her friends and family for their support, in particular retired Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kiun, Reporters Without Borders and the now-disbanded ethnic minority community advocacy group Unison.
“My thoughts are with my co-defendants who remain in custody,” she added.
Former legislators Mo, Gary Fan Kwok-wai, Kwok Ka-ki and Jeremy Tam Man-ho were released on Tuesday after serving four years and two months behind bars.
