Helicopter crash in Sacramento | Hwy 50 closed - Updates

The Sacramento Fire Department said three victims are in critical condition. All were on board of the Reach Helicopter.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A helicopter went down near Highway 50 and Howe Avenue in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said they are assisting the California Highway Patrol. The Sacramento Fire Department said three people, who were on board the Reach helicopter, are in critical condition. No bystanders were hurt.

A Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson said there was no patient on board the helicopter, just three crew members.

According to the CHP, Highway 50 eastbound at 59th Street is currently shut down. It’s unknown when it will be open.

Fire resources are on their way to the scene. Drivers are being asked to use alternative routes.
