HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts from around the world are set to attend a prestigious fashion show Sunday to show off their latest collections.
The Hawaii Fashion Show is set to take place at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the main show is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Then, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., attendees can enjoy the 3rd Annual World’s Beautiful Model Search.
Founder and producer Samantha Preece told Hawaii News Now about her journey with the event.
Preece initiated the show in 2021, driven by the realization that Hawaii lacked a prominent fashion platform comparable to those in other major cities.
Leveraging her 15 years of experience and extensive background in performing arts and pageantry, Preece embraced the challenge of launching the show, which has since rapidly evolved into Hawaii’s premier runway production.
Preece’s inspiration for the Hawaii Fashion Show stems from her experiences attending renowned fashion events, including New York Fashion Week and Miami Swim Week.
Now, she manages the entire Hawaii Fashion Show herself, overseeing everything from purchasing snacks for the talent to providing essential coaching for the models.
One of the most unique aspects of the Hawaii Fashion Show is the application and selection process.
Preece told HNN that she receives hundreds of applications from models every year.
To narrow it down to just 30 models, Preece said she looks for confident and quick learners.
Preece shared that she continues to prioritize inclusion.
Discussing her selection process for designers, Preece mentions her inclusive approach, “I don’t look at oh you’re an international designer or you’re a local designer, I’m like you’re all talented, you have your own stories, your own brands, and they’re all creative and unique in their own way, I see everyone as equals and all being there for the same reason.”
“We have some designers where they want to showcase their collection on the runway, but maybe they don’t have the means to fly out,” she added. “I’ve had designers mail me their outfits, and I will coordinate everything for them.”
When asked to describe the Hawaii Fashion Show in three words, Preece responded, “Collaboration, well-organized, and family-oriented.”
Tickets for the Hawaii Fashion Show are available through Ticketmaster or the Blaisdell Box Office.
Each ticket provides all-access entry with first-come, first-served seating and includes:
