Google’s forthcoming Pixel 10 series could be used to showcase a brand new AI-powered Call Message feature, if recent evidence is to be believed.
Following a dive into the latest beta version of the Phone by Google app, Android Authority has discovered a new feature called ‘Call Message’ that enables your Pixel phone to take messages for missed or declined calls.
This feature can also filter out spam calls, as well as transcribing and summarising everything in real time. It seems to trigger when your phone misses a call, or when you manually reject one.
Sound familiar? That’s probably because you’re aware of Apple’s Live Voicemail feature, which arrived with iOS 17 in 2023.
One notable aspect of this feature is that it works offline, presumably using Gemini Nano.

Why Pixel 10 launch is likely
It seems likely that this new Call Message feature will be exclusive to Pixel. Google is using an informal code name for the feature called Beesly, which is a practice the company historically adopts for Pixel-only features.
The website also points out that “pixel2024” tag applied to the app version number. Apparently, Google will use such tags when testing features intended for its Pixel phones.
Combined with the timing of this discover, it seems to be a safe bet that Call Message will form part of the Pixel 10 launch package in a month’s time.
Hopefully it’ll then roll out to older Pixel phones in a future Pixel Drop. Given the Gemini Nano limitation, this compatibility would presumably only extend to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 8 series.
Recent days have seen the Pixel 10 design leaked in full – including by Google itself. We recently ranked all seven distinct Pixel 10 colours. It’s fair to say that some are much more appealing than others.
